Novuss

Latvia

Novuss is easy to learn but rewards precision and control. Here’s how it works:

The setup
The game is played on a square wooden board with four corner pockets. Small wooden discs are arranged in a tight formation at the centre, and each player has a striker disc used to take shots from their baseline.

The objective
Players aim to pot their assigned discs into the corner pockets. The goal is to clear all your discs before your opponent — and then pot the final “queen” disc to win.

Taking a turn
From behind the baseline, a player flicks the striker using their finger to hit the discs. If you successfully pot one of your discs, you continue your turn. If you miss, your opponent takes over.

Fouls and penalties
Common fouls include potting the striker, failing to hit any disc, or sending discs off the board. Penalties may involve returning a disc to the centre or losing your turn.

Winning the game
Once a player pots all their discs, they must successfully pocket the final disc to secure victory — adding a layer of tension and excitement.
