Misket (Marbles)

Turkey

The Marbles Game, known as Misket in Türkiye, is one of the most popular traditional children’s games played for generations. The game is played with small colorful glass marbles and has long been a fun and competitive street game among children.

The main aim of the game is to hit target marbles on the ground using one’s own marble and win them. Players take turns flicking their marbles with their fingers, trying to make the most accurate shot possible. Although the rules may vary from region to region, skill, attention, and strategy are always central to the game.

Misket was commonly played in schoolyards, neighbourhood streets, and on dirt surfaces. Children often built their own marble collections, and colorful patterned marbles were especially popular and valuable among players.

The game helps improve hand-eye coordination, focus, concentration, and fine motor skills. Today, Misket continues to be remembered as an important and nostalgic part of Türkiye’s traditional street game culture.
